Now faded, the 1973 was (until 1980) one of the most enjoyable wines of what turned out to be a terribly weak, diluted vintage of frail, watery wines. Not so for the de Pez, which exhibited a lovely, charming, moderately intense, berry fruitiness, and soft, supple flavor. In large formats--such as magnums--this wine may still be vibrant. Anticipated maturity: Now-probably in serious decline. Last tasted, 3/85.
