The 1995 Cote Rotie, while impressively deep dark ruby/purple in color, is hard and backward, with crisp acidity, and tons of tannin. It tasted as if it had just finished malolactic fermentation. I suspect this wine, which reveals fine purity and good ripeness, should be re-evaluated in 6-12 months. It is certainly very good, but my judgment is intentionally conservative.
