The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a dark ruby color and pretty purple highlights. The bouquet is much more evolved than expected with jammy fruit aromas of blackberry preserves, kirsch, candied fruit, grilled herb and cherry liqueur. I was very surprised by the ripeness of the fruit on display here. Fruit does come from a lower area of the appellation where temperatures are higher. I expected more of this vintage.

Sweet spice notes grace the cherry fruit, with licorice, leather and saline elements. Fresh and lively, firming up on the lingering finish. Meaty, savory accents echo. Best from 2017 through 2029. 2,500 cases made.??–BS??Region: Italy / Brunello di Montalcino Select to Add
