The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino boasts plenty of depth, power and richness. Dark cherries, plums, violets, cloves and spices literally jump from the glass in this full-bodied, exotic Brunello. I can’t say the 2008 is especially refined, but it does have enough depth to drink well for at least a handful of years. A long, creamy finish makes up for the wine’s lack of complexity. The tannins remain a bit burly, but they should soften with further time in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2023.
