Primarily from estate vineyards, the 2006 Merlot (which includes 3% Cabernet Franc) represents the 30th anniversary of this winery. It exhibits attractive earthy, mocha, chocolate, and black cherry characteristics along with medium body, good fruit purity, and a solid style. Drink it over the next decade.
Given this estate’s remarkable upswing in quality over the last 5-6 years, I can’t wait to taste the 2007s next year, which should be the high point of Michael Keenan’s wine career so far. However, there are plenty of Robert Keenan wines that consumers should be seeking out.
