The 2004 Merlot Napa (97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc) is a juicy, straightforward, satisfying effort with no hard edges. With earthy black cherry and cola notes, impressive purity and texture, and a medium to full-bodied style, it should drink well for another 4-5 years.
As long-time readers know, Keenan Winery has been at the top of its game for a number of years, so I was not surprised to see how strongly their 2004s were performing at age ten.
