I had a slight preference for the 1996 red wines over the 1995s, but they are all very good to excellent efforts. The dark ruby/purple-colored 1995 Merlot is more astringent than the Cabernet Sauvignon, with rough, more jagged tannin, and lacking richness in the mid-palate. Nevertheless, it is a spicy, well-made wine with good density, but a monolithic personality. It should drink well for 5-6 years.
