I was most impressed by the white 2006 Aigua de Llum, literally water of light in Catalan language, which is a perfumed, mostly academic (as only 300 bottles were filled) blend of 65% Viognier and Garnacha Blanca aged in barrel. The color is a bright, almost fluorescent yellow, with a very mineral nose (petrol) reminiscent of a bottle-aged Condrieu with notes of ripe peach, decayed lilies, talcum powder and hints of smoke, very complex and elegant. The palate is full-bodied, with an unctuous texture, powerful but balanced, with hints of warmth from the alcohol and glycerin and a bittersweet finish. A white of strong personality. Drink now-2019.
I was a little overwhelmed by the ripeness and power of the reds from Vall Llach and some harsh tannins found in them
