The medium ruby-colored, soft, spicy, moderately fruity 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Baron is a competent example in a challenging vintage. In terms of quality, readers should think of it as a Cotes du Rhone rather than a Chateauneuf du Pape. Consume it over the next 2-3 years.
Three cuvees were produced in 2009, all of which were aged in foudre for 18-24 months.
