I loved Fortia’s 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Baron. Made from 45% Grenache, 45% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, aged all in concrete tank, it’s loaded with Provencal character and exhibits lots of sweet black cherries, currants, licorice and hints of olive and mint on the nose. Medium-bodied, elegant and supple, with outstanding balance and length, it’s drinking at point now, yet should hold nicely for another 3-5 years.
