The 2007 Barbera d’Alba Pairolero is sumptuous and rich in its massive dark fruit, flowers, minerals and spices. This is one of the more intense, full-bodied Barberas readers will come across in 2007, and it is utterly delicicous. It will be even better in another year or so, when all of the elements come together more fully. The 2007 Pairolero is an inspired effort! Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017.
These 2006 Barbarescos from Rino and Andrea Sottimano are divine. As outstanding as the wines are, their 2007s may be even better. Sottimano gave their 2006s 20 months in French oak, 25% new. These are very serious, beautiful Barbarescos readers will want to check out.
