The 2002 Barbera d’Alba Paiolero is surprising considering that the variety had particular problems of rot in this damp vintage. But the warm and roasted aromas, the ample texture and volume and the ripe and spicy fruit of the palate seem more the signs of a high level year. Drink: 2005-2008.
