Moving to the Chateauneufs, the inky-colored 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape (80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre) has a perfumed, floral core to go with plenty of berry fruits, graphite and mint. Medium to full-bodied, with a polished, elegant feel, it has good mid-palate depth and outstanding length on the finish. While it’s already approachable now, I suspect it will evolve gracefully for a decade.
