As one might suspect given the vintage differences, the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is filled with roasted Provencal herb, meaty, peppery nuances interwoven with notions of kirsch and licorice. It is medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, and very impressive. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025.
Proprietor Coralie Goumarre, who has turned out several beautiful wines, is another woman among many in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation who seem to be pushing the envelope of quality. Domaine Galevan has turned out two sensational Cotes du Rhones that qualify as sleepers of the vintage.
