The 2006 Barbaresco Rocche Meruzzano is the most complete of these offerings. Ripe dark fruit, menthol, leather and spices come together in a powerful, harmonious Barbaresco. The tannins are rather potent, but there is also more than enough fruit and sheer density to provide balance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. This is another set of impressive wines from Abrigo. All of the 2006 Barbarescos are made in a fairly powerful, tannic style. Within the context of Barbaresco, these single-vineyard bottlings are not that different from each other, or put another way, what comes through most is the style of the producer rather than that of the vineyards themselves.
