The estate’s 2004 Chianti is a lovely, medium bodied effort, not to mention a terrific value. It opens with pretty aromatics followed by delicate notes of crushed flowers, spices, and raspberries in a focused, linear style that calls to mind an almost-Burgundian expression of Sangiovese. This understated Chianti will offer its finest drinking now and over the next five years or so, and will show at its best at the dinner table. Aged predominantly in cask. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2012.
