The 1997 Chateauneuf du Pape cuvees identified as his "first wine" possesses Reserve des Celestins potential. It is a thick, juicy, full-bodied, concentrated cuvee with low acidity and an immense wealth of fruit, glycerin, and alcohol. Exhibiting great concentration and intensity, it should age well for two decades. Total production at Bonneau is about 1,500 cases in a good year, but thanks to the insistence of Bonneau's American importer, Alain Junguenet, our country is getting several hundred cases. This is the quintessential artisinal winery, and Henri Bonneau is one of the planet's greatest and most distinctive winemakers. Importer: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel.
