Considered an exceptionally poor year in the Barossa, Rockford's 1989 Basket Press is a fully mature, dark plum-colored wine with plenty of fat, smoky prune, and blackcurrant flavors. Medium to full-bodied, with light tannin in the succulent finish, it is a very good to excellent wine made under trying conditions.
Thanks to the persistent efforts of the American importer Dan Philips of the Grateful Palate (Oxnard, CA; tel. 888-472-5283), small quantities of Rockford wines for the first time are now available in the United States.
