The two new releases, the 1989 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 1990 Merlot, are authoritatively flavored wines that are bursting with personality and complexity. The 1990 Merlot offers up a gorgeously perfumed nose of sweet, ripe fruit, olives, and vanillin. The palate displays lavish quantities of ripe, rich, chocolatey, and cassis fruit, gobs of glycerin, soft tannins, and a full-bodied, opulent, smashingly long finish. Drinkable now, this wine should last for 7-8 years.
