Tasted at the La Romanée vertical at Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair. The 1995 La Romanée Grand Cru, here labeled under Comte Liger-Belair, is clearly more mature in color than the 1993 or 1996 vintages that were served either side. However, I appreciate the purity on the nose here, unadulterated Pinot Noir. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, juicy tannin: blood orange and mandarin, a touch of orange zest filtering through on the elegant finish. This is a La Romanée that might lack the intellectual weight, but just wants to give pleasure. Tasted June 2015.
