The 2011 Torresilo is produced from grapes harvested from extremely old small plots with low yields planted on poor sandy soils rich in lime and clay. The nose is archetypal Ribera, with ripe fruit, lactic notes and spices and smoke from the 16-18 months of barrel aging. The palate is full-bodied, with a lush texture, and is dense, concentrated and powerful; quite fresh for such ripe vintage. A great Ribera. Drink 2014-2019.
Cillar de Silos is a brilliant family project from the Aragon family from Quintana de Pidio, in the Burgos province where they work their 68 hectares of vineyards ranging from 10 to 90 years of age.
