The 2005 Barolo Ciabot Manzoni provides a gorgeous counterpoint to the Bricco Luciani. Dark cherries, tar, spices, chocolate and French oak are some of the nuances that emerge from this rich, full-bodied wine. Grasso’s Ciabot Manzoni possesses superb density and concentration, even if the oak is quite overt. Grasso gave the Ciabot Manzoni 100% new oak, an approach that producers in La Morra and elsewhere in Piedmont have largely moved away from. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021.
