Grasso's 1990 Barolo Ciabot Manzoni is a juicy, sexy wine that has held up quite well. Soft, textured and expansive on the palate, the wine offers terrific overall balance, fine harmony and a long, pure finish. Here, too, in 1990 the warm growing season seems to have produced fruit that is quite a bit better suited for French oak than 1989. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2011.
