The 2009 Abellars is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah from 13-year-old vines, aged in French and American oak (50% each being new). It has a well-defined, attractive nose of blackberry, pain grille and liquorice with a slight reductive note that works to its favour. The palate is medium-bodied with a lightly toasted entry, grainy tannins and fine delineation towards the structured, composed, off-dry finish. This is well-made and should age well. Drink now-2018.
