The 2006 Abellars is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Syrah aged for 12 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. It is a glass-coating opaque purple with lifted aromas of toasty oak, slate/mineral, scorched earth, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a full-bodied, rich, spicy wine with plenty of red and black fruit flavors, some underlying structure, and 2-3 years of aging potential. Drink this pleasure-bent effort from 2011 to 2021.
