Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Grandes Murailles offers smudged aromas of strawberry preserve and raspberry coulis, leather and sage tucked in just underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, quite sharp acidity and a rather pinched, slightly mean finish that has a slight rawness to it. Drink soon as this is not going anywhere. Decadent, with intense berry and tobacco character. Full-bodied, delivering loads of rich fruit and round, velvety tannins. Slightly too extracted, but interesting. Drink now. -JS
