This wine (bottled on December 29, 1997) was showing some reduction when I tasted it. This should have dissipated by now, and it may therefore be better than my initial impression. Behind the meaty and gamey aromas of reduction I perceived sweet black raspberries and traces of freshly laid asphalt. This medium-to-full-bodied, velvety-textured, fresh, and somewhat backward wine offers a flavor profile composed of blackberries and dark cherries. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2003.
