If you do not think 1990 produced superb wines, consider Bertrand Ambroise's wine from the lowliest vineyard in his hierarchy. A deep, saturated, ruby/purple color precedes huge aromas of black fruits, minerals, and oriental spices. In the mouth, this medium to full-bodied wine is stuffed with rich fruit, moderate tannins, and a long, rich finish. It could easily be mistaken for a grand cru in another vintage. Not yet ready to be fully appreciated, it needs another 1-2 years of cellaring and should last easily for a decade or more. An outstanding effort and great value in red burgundy!
