The 2016 Zinfandel Especial offers up high-toned and unusual aromas of grapefruit and red berries, followed by a medium-bodied, open-knit palate with fine tannins, juicy acids and a savory finish. It's a somewhat atypical Zinfandel, but it's structurally more attractive than some of the other Peachy Canyon bottlings.

This is quite a fine Zinfandel that shows the benefits of a relatively cool vintage in Paso Robles. The fruit is entirely ripe, but without the Porty sweetness that can mar Paso reds in a hot year.
