One of the richer, fleshier whites in the range is the 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Le Porusot, which bursts with aromas of orange oil, white flowers, almonds and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, rich and textural, with an ample core of fruit but good strutting grip to balance it, this will offer a broad drinking window.

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Le Poruzot reveals a pretty bouquet of pear, peach, blanched almonds and flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with ripe acids, chewy structuring extract and good length on the finish. Like most of these 2018 whites, this will also show well young.

The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots was affected by frost, two-thirds of the fruit biting the dust. As such, it feels a little static on the nose, not quite conveying the energy of the La Pièce Sous Le Bois for example. The palate is actually better, with a cheeky touch of licorices on the entry, slightly minty and quite exotic and concentrated toward its outgoing finish.

The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots was severely damaged by hail, which is why it was cropped at just (drum roll please)…6 hectoliters per hectare! It has a stern, limestone and granitic bouquet with touches of Granny Smith apple developing in the glass. The palate is crisp on the entry with fresh pear and green apple, a keen line of acidity and then it clams up towards a strict, lightly spiced finish. Meursault meets Puligny.

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Le Porusot has a fragrant bouquet with lovely apricot and clementine scents that are beautifully entwined with the oak. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, satisfying fruit concentration and well integrated oak. Harmonious and quite sensual, this is a very well crafted Meursault that should repay cellaring. Tasted May 2016.
