The 2009 Meursaut Poruzots shows the best balance of the 2009 Meursaults I tasted. Persistent layers of minerality provide the backdrop for waves of beautifully nuanced fruit. The Poruzots is round, seamless and totally inviting through to the saline finish. This is a fabulous effort from Benjamin Leroux. Anticipated maturity: 2013+.
Benjamin Leroux is quite and unassuming, but his wines more than speak for themselves. I tasted a wide range of 2010s, but was only able to revisit a handful of 2009s, as production is just a barrel or two for most wines. These are some of the most interesting wines being made in Burgundy today.
