Only the second vintage for this blend, the 2017 Shiraz Cabernet is a 60-40 blend, aged predominantly in second use barrels. Peppermint sprigs and black peppercorns accent mulberry fruit in this medium to full-bodied wine. It's perfumed, herbal and even a bit medicinal in tone, yet in an attractive way, like a decent Italian amaro. The tannins are ripe and velvety, while the wine finishes savory and long.

Still labeled as the "Trinders" in Australia, the 2010 Cabernet Merlot has a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of freshly crushed black currants, black cherries and baking spices with hints of toasty oak and mocha. Medium-bodied with a backbone of medium-level chewy tannins and medium to high acid, it's just a little lacking in mid-palate flesh, though finishes long. Drink it now through 2016+.
