Slightly angular and bordering on austere, the sweet aromas of black cherries intermixed with herb, mineral, and a hint of asphalt are attractive. The wine is medium-bodied and well-balanced, with the tannin largely held in check by relatively good fruit and ripeness. The wine will never be great, but it is certainly an interesting effort that probably sells for a song. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 12/02.
