The 1961 is one of the greatest Magdelaines I have ever tasted, although bottle variation has always been present with this wine. The knock-out nose soars from the glass, offering up scents of fruitcake, cedar, and jammy currants and cherries. Full-bodied, rich, and exotic, with layers of fruit, this is an opulently textured, lush, compelling example of Magdelaine. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted 3/97
