The entry-level 2012 Latria is a blend of Garnacha and Cari?ena from their own vineyards and purchased grapes from the village Cornudella de Montsant fermented in stainless steel at low temperature and matured in a mixture of new and used barrels for one year. It had an unusual note of smoked paprika that I also found in some of their other wines, which might be related to the élevage. The barrels seem to dominate the nose and palate where the sweet, vanilla-driven tannins coat the inside of your mouth and leave a sweet chocolate aftertaste. For fans of oaky reds. 30,000 bottles produced.
