The 2009 Latria is an equal blend of Garnacha and Carinena from 40- to 55-year-old vines, fermented with wild yeasts with partial malolactic fermentation in barrel, where it is aged for 14 months (50% new.) It has a well-defined, crisp nose of blackberry, briary and a touch of dried blood, a ferrous note underlying the fruit profile. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, displaying clean, bright red fruit and a well-delineated, focused finish that has both elegance and tension. Raspberry and wild strawberry fruit define the aftertaste and you just want to take another sip. Great price for a great little wine. Drink now-2016.
