From old head-pruned vineyards and yields of one-third to one ton of fruit per acre, this wine will please most southern Rhone enthusiasts. The ruby/purple-colored 1997 Grenache The Custodian reveals a sweet, peppery, black raspberry and cherry fruit-dominated personality, medium to full body, and a lusty (14.5% alcohol) finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
