This red offering is an excellent value. The most serious red is the 3,000-bottle Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Louis Belle, which emerges from selected vineyards, mostly from the hillsides of Larnage. It also sees more new oak (about one-third). The deeply-colored 2000 boasts notes of fried bacon fat, black cherries, currants, spice box, and licorice. Medium-bodied and supple-textured, but more voluminous and textured in the mouth, it is best consumed early in life (given its low acidity and lack of exceptional concentration). Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
