Castellare releases its top wines later than most others in Chianti Classico, but the 1999 Coniale clearly benefited from the wait. The forthright nose of black currants and herbs is still very fresh and the muscular, medium-weight body still needs to round off a few tannins, though the abundant fruit and minerals of the finish indicate that the wine will have no problem in staying the course. Drink: 2006-2014.
