The 2009 Barbaresco Coparossa emerges from the glass with similarly radiant fruit, but with more tannic heft and clout. Freshly cut flowers, spices, mint and small red berries are layered into the vibrant, tightly coiled finish. Today, the Coparossa is somewhat compact, but if it fills out, it might merit a higher score. Coparossa is made from parcels in San Cristoforo, Neive and Pajore, Treiso. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
Time waits for no one. I remember when Bruno Rocca's children were kids, now they are all grown up and actively involved in the family business, which is great to see. Luisa looks after the commercial side of the winery, while Francesco seems to have inherited his father's passion for the vineyard.
