Following the blockbuster, powerful, concentrated Peachy Canyon Zinfandels from previous vintages, the 1994s are more restrained and elegant. The 1994 Zinfandel Westside reveals a textbook, briery, spicy, peppery nose, well-hidden alcohol (14.6%), excellent ripeness, a rich, medium to full-bodied style, and a spicy, clean finish. Like its siblings, it is more subtle than usual. NOTE: All the wines in this article were tasted in May, 1996.
