Michel Ferraton declassified his entire Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage production in 1993. The 1991 Hermitage Cuvee des Miaux offers a dense, dark ruby color with purple nuances. A nose of sweet, over-ripe black fruit is followed by a medium-bodied, tannic, tough-textured closed austere wine. It requires 5-6 years of cellaring and should keep for 20+ years. My only reservation is the high level of harsh tannin at present. Importer: Neal Rosenthal, Select Vineyards, Shekomeko, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990
