The 2009 Volnay Clos des Chenes is a bit cooler and more inward than the Taillepieds despite boasting considerable volume itself. The fruit takes on considerable darkness and richness as the wine sits in the glass. Menthol, spices, intense minerals, licorice and freshly cut flowers wrap around the huge, implosive finish.
