One of the vintage’s top successes is Roger Perrin’s 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Vieilles Vignes. Deep, rich, and full-bodied with notes of white chocolate, black cherries, cassis, truffles, and resiny pine needles, this long, well-balanced 2006's tannins are largely concealed by the wealth of fruit. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Roger Perrin has turned out some beautiful wines, especially his top cuvee of Vieilles Vignes, which is exceptionally strong in both vintages. However, his wines are always fairly priced, so readers should not ignore his basic cuvee.
