Given the praise it has received over the past few years, assiduous readers of The Wine Advocate should know by now that Bertrand Ambroise’s Ladoix Les Grechons (white) is one of the finest values in white Burgundy on the market (I found his outstanding 2002 at my neighborhood Balducci’s recently for $28 a bottle). The 2003, which competes in quality with his wonderful Corton-Charlemagne, is another winner. Creamed minerals and spices make up this gorgeous effort’s aromatics. On the palate, it boasts admirable richness, depth, and purity. Loads of spiced minerals, pears, and notes of ripe apples can be found in its complex, medium-bodied character as well as in its immensely impressive finish. This beauty should be consumed over the next 7 years.
