Ambroise's premier cru Ladoix Les Grechons is consistently one of the finest values to be found in white Burgundies. The 2000 displays loads of spicy minerals intermingled with fresh thyme in its aromatics. It is medium to full-bodied, chewy, and velvety-textured. This concentrated, deep wine is broad and exhibits copious amounts of gravel, toasted nuts, butter, stones, and poached pears. It is a big wine, particularly for the vintage, yet reveals excellent balance and a harmonious character. Drink it over the next 8 years.
