The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino shows lovely richness and depth in its sweet red cherries, licorice, new leather, spices and tobacco. Here, too, the oak comes across as dominant given the wine’s medium-bodied structure. The 2007 is nevertheless an appealing wine, but it is best enjoyed over the near and mid-term. A soft, caressing finish rounds things out nicely. The 2007 spent 36 months in cask. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.
