The 2006 Barbaresco Maria Adelaide is a huge success for what has turned out to be an irregular vintage in Barbaresco. The Maria Adelaide, a selection of the estate’s best fruit, flows with generous dark cherries, menthol, new leather and a host of other balsamic aromas and flavors. This is a full-bodied, richly textured Barbaresco with broad shoulders and more than enough intensity in its fruit to develop in bottle for a number of years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Bruno Rocca’s 2007 Barbareschi are among the stars of the vintage. The wines show fabulous finesse and elegance, while capturing the exuberant personality of the year. Well-marked by oak, evoking sweet spices, cherry, blackberry and a hint of camphor. There's intensity and balance, with a long, sweet fruit and spice aftertaste.
