The 2007 Barbaresco Maria Adelaide is Rocca’s top selection and is made from a number of parcels across his holdings in Barbaresco. Rich layers of fruit emerge from this flamboyant, intensely perfumed wine. Expressive aromatics give the Maria Adelaide a seamlessness that is striking, very much in the style of the vintage. The French oak is quite prominent, but it works within the style of the wine. Still, given the very high quality of these vineyards, it would seem a little less oak would only allow the sites to speak with even greater eloquence. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027.
