There will be only around 65 cases of Dugat’s 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques, an intensely spicy, cherry-, plum- and high-toned flower-scented wine exhibiting in the mouth roasted meatiness and deep, pure, sweet yet fresh fruit, tinged with tactile spiciness of cinnamon and ginger. The texture is already remarkably alluring and refined – truly silken. A dynamic, amazingly long finish offers oscillating fruit, spice, meat and chalky, stony mineral elements. (Incidentally, the fruit was not de-stemmed.) Plan on 15-20 years of fascinating evolution. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800.
